Max is bigoted against non-human races, such as half-orcs, kobold, and goblins. 

He encountered the party in the desert while they were traveling with the goblin band towards [[Alkesh]]. The party told him that they defeated a bandit group. He seemed impressed and said that he would send scouts to investigate and if the claims were true would seek the party's help with a task related to a mining camp.
